Muffins & Cupcakes

How are we able to tell a muffin from a cupcake? Does a cupcake without a frosting on top make it a muffin? The answer is NO, but they have some similarities in ingredients like flour, eggs, butter, sugar and milk.

Cupcakes are  topped with whipped frosting whereas, muffins are plainer or topped with a very thin glaze.

Using similar creaming method as regular cake recipes, cupcakes are a lot sweeter than muffins.
